The new SEC chairman, Mr. Paul Atkins, spoke at the Digital Currency Roundtable held on April 25.
Mr. Atkins, who was recently appointed as the SEC chairman, attended the roundtable along with members of the Crypto Task Force. The main focus of the meeting was on issues related to the custody of digital assets and the creation of legal frameworks for them.
Atkins, the new SEC chairman, spoke about the enormous benefits of blockchain technology in terms of efficiency, risk reduction, transparency and cost reduction. He emphasized that his goal at the SEC is to create “transparent regulatory rules” for digital assets, noting that the previous SEC administration under Gary Gensler had fostered market and regulatory uncertainty.
